Wedding Center Pieces are beautiful ways to set ambiance and give people who don’t know each other something to talk about 😉 Here is an awesome and eye catching way to use tin cans to dress up your tables. tin-can-DIYs3.jpg

You can use paint, ribbon, burlap, paper, lace a combination of all and more to make your centerpiece unique to your wedding.

You can have different size tin cans or different colors etc. and all you need to make this possible are tin cans (hit up the friends and family and tell them to wash and save them for you) time and theme/idea!

This picture comes from a great website on and the article is on how to have a wedding for $7,000! Here’s the link

I just love the couple’s wedding that is featured, it is absolutely lovely to see how they made this wedding so chic and fabulous!

Now let’s take a look at how we get our guests to the right tables!69b3285aa28f39bc36d96c6ffde7f1ea I love using tin cans on the table as an addition to your centerpiece by having them be utilize in such and illuminating way it really makes a statement.

*Please note that it is sometimes best to use those little LED candles rather than real candles as those tins can get pretty HOT!

Okay let’s take a look!I love how they painted the inside of the tin can, using a LED light in there would look so beautiful!

I bet that when the lights are turned down low or when the sunsets this will make your guests ‘ooooh and ahhhhh’!

For step by step instructions click on this link

Let’s talk favors, I saw this and I really just fell in LOVE! I never thought of using tin cans this way and now that I have seen this I am going to do this for any occasion I can (maybe with herbs instead 🙂 )!

Click this link to website to see what I am talking about!!!

Last but not least you need those cans tied to the back of your car. Now I have an idea for this one that I haven’t seen anywhere else… 08e22e9b5aa6bb966f1b859951c39ae8Send your guests a tin can and have then decorate it with well wishes for you and your ‘to be’!

This would also make a beautiful keep sake for your children, art for your wall or anniversary nostalgia! I found this cute pic of the tins on

I have to say that I love seeing tin cans and the Just Married” sign on a car. I love to honk and wave as my way to wish the special couple a long healthy marriage – I know aaaaaaaawwwww right. I admit it I am sappy but I LOVE being sappy it make me happy!

Hey Megs ❤

Boy do I have a fun project for you! So you know those tin cans that you get your tomato sauce, peas and beans in? Those cans can be up-cycled into something really FABULOUS! I found a ton of great ideas to turn those cans into something really spectacular and fun 😉

Okay who remembers this song lyric “back in the day I was young, not a kid anymore”? Well, I have something that will bring you way back – to those warm summer days, when you hung out with the kids in the neighborhood, parents laughing and chatting away and you sweaty and happy!KidsChaosdotcomKickTheCan

Use those tin cans to share those moments with the kids in your life – hey I’m gonna do this at the next BBQ I go to ADULTS included lol!

It’s such a simple game that takes nothing but good friends and laughter!

I found this gem on the great thing about this blog article is that it not only gives you free printable to play it also explains the objective of the game and gives you instructions on how to construct your tin can!

So let’s talk BBQ there are some creative ways we can upcycle those tins for that get together  you are planning. First let us start with the ambiance! I jus love that word lol – anyway I found this site that shows you how to make DIY candle lanterns out of tin cans! 32361b2fb75fe1a55653903b7bbc7d31This site gives you step by step instructions on what tools you will need, how to create your art and how to paint it – the right way 🙂

Since we are on the theme of ambiance we will also need to make sure that we have something that sings in the wind don’t you think? Can you guess what it is – lol okay it’s WIND CHIMES!

You can make one of a kind art (OOAK) and sell it or this can be a project that you do with the kids – nieces, nephews, students or as a FAB tea party craft idea!aceae5d90b70dacad7fa24e7f03422b9

Here are some great examples of wind chimes to get those ideas flowing; note that you can use old beads, old door knobs, silverware, keys and add in some found sticks to really get a unique sound. Just about anything that will make sound!

I love the idea of painting the cans and having the items hanging off of them coordinate!

This picture I found on and unfortunately when trying to track down the author/artist it lead me down a rabbit hole – if you know the artist please let me know so I can credit them for their gorgeous work!

Here is another wind chime that I found and just love and you can find our more about it by clicking this link I highly recommend you check out her site it is truly fabulous. And no I don’t know her; I am just a fan of green living!

Now it doesn’t have to be a ghost that you make, you can make a bee, caterpillar, dragonfly or anything you fancy however her site does give you great instructions on how to go about making your wind chime.

My crafty Megs and my Etsy Megs I am sure that your brain already started thinking about ways you could use your creative genius! Here are some I have thought of using tin can wind chimes:

  • holiday themed windchimes
  • wind chimes for a cause (breast cancer, troops, recycling etc.)
  • DIY kits (complete with tins, noise makers, string and paint/brushes)
  • OOAK wind chimes

And last but not least we’ll need a way to organize all those utensils folks will be using!f44c31ff3949540fa2289e2db676f9d0 I found this adorable upcycle idea that is not only practical but simply FABULOUS! You can find directions by following this link

The great thing about this site is that it gives you so very many ways to recycle, upcycle and repurpose items that we throw away! As I have mentioned before lol I am a fan of upcycling and green living.

Oh and not to mention their are some hilarious upcycles – I really like the high heels! She can be fabulous looooooong after we are done with them.

I also like that it works as a work of art, makes you think about “beautiful” in such a different perspective. So for that alone this site is worth checking out; it’s FABULOUS, it’s thought provoking, it’s Art.

Megs, share all the ways you plan on using your tin cans this year, comment below and share!

Hey Megs,

So in a nutshell here is my first and ONLY experience with PayPal:

Shame on you PayPal

Utilizing the preferred vendor that PayPal recommended I sent my package. While on the delivery site there was no $ value calculated for shipping. I printed out the label and received an email confirmation of the transaction detail.

No where in the email was there any dollar amount stated. I sent the package today and when I logged into my PayPal account I noticed I was charged $10.77 for an item that weighs less than 2oz. and was never, at any point notified that the item I was shipping (valued at $10.99) would cost 100% of the profit – this includes the additional surcharges for using Paypal which I was aware of.

I called customer service to figure out if there was an error. I was told that there was no error and that there was nothing they could do. I asked for my account to be closed and was told that I could not close my account because there was a $.27 balance and I would have to pay an additional $1.50 for them to cut a check for the $.27!

I then asked to speak with a Manager, Fred, who agreed to close my account however PayPal had to keep my $.27.

I asked to receive and email confirmation of the account being closed as well as an email confirming that they kept the balance. Which I did receive.

I am requesting that PayPal do the right thing and refund the $10.77 and the balance the kept. I will donate this to the VA hospital as some good should come out of this.

The way to send a message to any company is to take your business elsewhere.

What is Upcycling?

Aside Posted on Updated on

Hey Megs,

So to me up-cycling is just a fancy pants way of saying re-purposing… but I like being fancy pants so I’ll use it. Why am I passionate about it? Well, for those of us that are crafty, artsy or just FAAAAAABULOUS it’s a great way to save money, spread some joy, save one more item from ending up in a trash heap and let’s us use the magic of our imaginations!

Another reason why I love up-cycling is that sometimes I come up with something soooo fabulous that I just have to gift it, or sell it, or display it, or blog about it lol! Now that being said up-cycling does not just pertain to bought items, they can be found items, items in nature, gifted items etc. As we all know some of the best things in life are FREE!

And the last reason I up-cycle is the pure joy of being able to go back in time and be a kid again; looking at an object and using my imagination! Ever seen a pair of old shoes and thought “that would make a perfect planter for my succulents!”? No? Well you have come to the right spot to get those creative juices flowing and if you said yes, can we be friends please lolz!

Seriously though and I mean this in the most sincere ‘It’s my birthday and I’m turning one and I get to have CAKE’ kind of joy – LET’S HAVE SOME FUN!!!!

Me on my first birthday
Me on my 1st birthday with my mom

Help Save the Planet & Make Money!

Aside Posted on Updated on

Hey Megs,

Those of you that know me know that I am one crafty nut and love the outdoors. So the other day when I was writing about possible uses for the plastic milk jugs I got to thinking… what other fabulous ways can we be Crafty, Thrifty and Fabulous?

Well, I found some great ways to use those 16 oz. bottles! Fun ways to celebrate spring, nature and the outdoors but also great ideas for those rainy days  with the kids… and for my crafty nuts (me included!) there are some great ways to possible earn a little extra $$$ or just have fun creating so that you can use your creations to store your paint brushes, scissors, stamps, ribbon ends! eb0471a257ae22f56d38390cecdce84a

First up comes from; I absolutely love hummingbirds, they are one of natures miracles! So, why not use those bottle to feed these wondrous creatures and enjoy them at the same time? You can place this outside your window, in your garden or if you live in apartment on your patio/balcony!

Look how cute this lil’ gal is! An added benefit is that you can feel good knowing that this beauties are getting a nice sweet treat from something that most people look at and throw away!fc761019373890f0b609b4178a60c404

Here is another clever and bird friendly way to make use out of those bottles – use them as bird feeders! This is a great way to engage children on why it is important to re-cycle and conserve our resources and still have fun at the same time. Now please folks remember to use Non-Toxic paints as we want to ensure our feathered friends enjoy their feeders.

You can find more information on as well as other great uses and ideas for upcycling items! It’s such a great resource and for those with kids on vacation a great place to find ideas on utilizing every day plastics in a new and inventive way!

I could also TOTALLY see this as a fairy house hanging from the trees or place amongst the garden! Children love to hear of elves and fairies – all magical beings and this is a great way to keep the magic alive! And for those of us who still believe it’s also a great DIY project for dressing up the garden and being eco-friendly!

I am putting this one on my bucket list of items to accomplish this spring! Save those bottles Megs!

Now for those of you who live in apartments or shared spaces where there isn’t a backyard or a lot of outdoor space you can still bring the outdoors in and benefit you and family/friends! I came across this next item and I thought GENIUS! How clever!!! Why didn’t I think of that! lolz

Using a bottle cut into 2 pieces down the middle as a means to grow herbs or small plants at home. Parsley, Basil, Dill and Cilantro come to mind and I bet they would be great to grow in these. And for my Meg Foodies (SHOUT OUT)  out there this is a fabulous way to get fresh herbs whenever you need them!

You can put these on your windowsill, hang them in a row where there is natural sunlight or put them on the balcony patrician (so it’s safe from the wind) and have your own little oasis! This is also a great way to plant plants without having to go out and buy a new container. You also get 2 for the price of one (had to put that in there lolz)!

Again, this is another kid friendly way to introduce them into conservation, life cycle of plants and the added benefit of them being excited to watch it grow. Just be sure that you either use kid friendly scissors or and adult does the cutting of the bottle (the latter is probably a safer bet).

This is also a FABULOUS idea for Teachers, use this instead of buying those styrofoam  cups – besides you can’t see anything in those!!! This will allow the kids to see the inner workings of the plant and its roots :). You could always designate one child each week to be responsible for the plants care – kids love doing stuff like this (I know I did). You can find more information at

Another item going on the bucket list for this summer!

Okay, so I am really, really digging this next item! This is great for just about everyone, folks selling on Etsy, kids home on break, Teachers who need an awesome craft idea or if you are like me someone who loves to add their imagination into their work! I found two sites with similar ideas but they are just too fabulous so I am going to share them both!

Remember that Pepe Le Pew? pepeRemember those cute little hearts that he would emote? Well that’s exactly how I felt when I saw these DIY containers!! I just LOVE them (Pepe Le Pew style lol)!!!

Check them OUT!!!!

1a2b9fd8872ecc91012ddd74aa4ef1a0Now this first one come from a site called and it essentially advocating what to do with those everyday items that we often throw away; shampoo & conditioners, dish soap etc.

I just get a kick out of the googly eyes!!! This is a great project for anytime and best of all you are re-purposing it into something that you will actually want to put on your desk, night stand, kitchen counter etc. to display you or your child’s artwork.

Now drum roll please….. loooook! When I saw this I thought omg this is a fabulous idea for not just storage but Easter is right around the corner and you know what that means… baskets – well you can have fun and personalize this to make it your own. This lovely gem comes from a site called

637fe73c9a8515de3d754463e3b22ad3     Etsy crafters – this is a FABULOUS!!! (yes I use that word a lot) idea! Think of it – you can make these and have folks personalize their children or loved one’s name for Easter and it gets even better – you can still use this anytime of the year because we all know that we love anything with our names on it lol!

I be these beauties are pretty easy to make only thing it’ll take is some bottles! (well and paint, a paint brush but hey it’s still awesome!) I bet you can come up with all sorts of unique and fun characters!

So Megs, when you are out and about and see that plastic bottle on the ground pick it up, who knows where your imagination will take you and mother earth will thank you (and so will I 😉 ).

Post any suggestions or ways that you have repurposed bottles in the comments below! I love hearing from you all!
